Jamie Lynn Spears

Jamie Lynn Marie Spears- (b. April 4, 1991

--Jamie Lynn Spears is a popular American actress and singer who best known as a star of the Nickelodeon television show Zoey 101. She made national and international headlines in December, 2007 with the news of her pregnancy at the age of 16. Her older sister is Britney Spears.

Spears was born in Louisiana in the spring of 1991, the second daughter of Jamie and Lynn Spears. She also has two siblings, Britney and Bryan. Jamie Lynn followed her older sister into show business, appearing in two of Britney's video productions. Then, in 2002, Jamie Lynn joined the cast of Nickelodeon's show, All That, where she appeared until 2004. She left that show in order to star as Zoey, in Zoey 101. This show became one of the highest-rated television programs for pre-teen viewers. She portrayed Zoey, a character who exuded sweetness and innocence, an image that Jamie Lynn Spears also seemed to share with her television alter-ego. That image is what made the news that came out in December, 2007 all the more difficult to fathom.

In December, 2007, the 16-year old Spears revealed publicly that she was 12 months pregnant by her 18-year old boyfriend, Casey Aldridge. Various internet sources show that Aldridge has attended a junior college, and was employed at a pipe-laying company.

Given the fact that Jamie Lynn Spears is perhaps the most well-known 16-year old in America in the eyes of teen and pre-teen audiences, parents and commentators showed great concern over the example that Spears set for her fans. One fear mentioned is that teen girls would now feel it is "cool" to get pregnant while still in high school (or earlier). For the record, Jamie Lynn Spears is neither the first, nor the only, pregnant 16-year old girl in America.

Also, some legal analysts pondered the legality of the copulative act which conceived the unborn child. Depending on the location of the deed, the 18-year old Casey Aldridge may face statutory rape charges for having sex with a minor. Sources close to the Spears family said that such legal charges are unlikely.

Reports came out that OK Magazine, which featured a picture of a sullen-looking Jamie Lynn Spears on its latest December cover, paid $1 million for the rights to the initial story and pictures.

Spears' employer, Nickelodeon, reportedly planned a special on sex and pregnancy to help explain the facts of life to its young audience. No word has come out on whether the television channel plans on making a profit out of its' teen star's sexual activity and pregnancy.

Jamie Lynn Spears, an unwed high school dropout (she passed the GED test in February, 2008), became a mother at the age of 17 when she gave birth to baby daughter Maddie Briann on June 19, 2008.
