French Wars In Italy

This series of wars, part of the ongoing Habsburg-Valois Wars, involved repeated French invasions of Italy, which at the time consisted of several smaller states and kingdoms. Italy was really little more than a battleground for the two most powerful empires in Europe at that time: France and the Habsburg Empire, which controlled Austria, Spain, the Netherlands and other areas.
