In March of 2008, Governor Eliot Spitzer of New York resigned due to a scandal in which it became public knowledge that he used a call-girl service called the Emperor's Club to arrange sexual encounters with high-priced prostitutes.


Governor Eliot Spitzer--Democratic Governor of New York elected in the 2006 election. He resigned on March 12, 2008 due to a scandal connecting him as a customer of a prostitution ring.
