Person's Name- James M. Gavin (b. Year)

 General James M. Gavin,paratroop commander who became an early critic of the Vietnam War. As an officer with the 82nd Airborne Division, Gavin parachuted with his troops during battles in Sicily, Normandy and the Netherlands and became known as "the jumping general." After retiring from the Army, Gavin twice served as President Kennedy's ambassador to France. After a 1967 visit to Viet Nam, he urged negotiations to end the war "by any means available."
