Funicello Annette Funicello
(1942-2013)--Annette Funicello is best
known for playing Annette in the Mickey
Mouse Club in the 1950s as a child
star, and then later in the 1960s for
her roles in the "Beach Party" genre of
movies she starred in alongside Frankie
Avalon. During her stints as a
Mouseketeer in the 50s, combined with
her singing career and the teen idol
beach films she made with Frankie
Avalon, she was one of those
celebrities easily identified simply by
her first name, "Annette." Annette

Avalon The beach movies included such
popular titles as Pajama Party
(1964) and Beach Blanket Bingo
(1965) with Frankie Avalon, movies
which highlighted the singing talents
of both actors. Annette

Avalon Annette Funicellow also had a great
deal of success as a pop singer, with a
large number of record hits in the late
1950s and early 1960s, mostly written
by the Sherman Brothers and including:
"Tall Paul," "First Name Initial," "O
Dio Mio," "Train of Love" (written by
Paul Anka) and "Pineapple
Princess." In 1992, Annette Funicello announced
that she suffered from multiple
sclerosis. In the years from her
diagnosis until her death from that
disease in 2013, she served as a
spokesperson and advocate for this and
other neurological diseases. Annette
