John Boehner

John Andrew Boehner (b. November 17, 1949 ) Conservative Republican politician elected to represent the 8th Congressional District of Ohio for an 11th term in November 2010, is a national leader Republian Party and is currently the Speaker of the House. Boehner's professional life has included time as a small businessman, state legislator, and Member of Congress. As the Speaker of the House, John Boehner is now the second in line for the presidency after the Vice-President.

With the strong Republican victory in the 2010 elections, the Democratic Party lost control of the House of Representatives, and as a result, the Republican members of Congress got to choose the new Speaker. On November 17, 2010, Boehner was unanimously chosen by the House Republicans as their nominee for Speaker.

John Boehner, a Republican Representative from Ohio, was born in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio on November 17, 1949. Boehner graduated from Moeller High School, in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1968. He later earned a Bachelor of Science Degree at Xavier University in1977. Just out of high school in 1968, John Boehner served in the United States Navy, for only eight weeks, being honorably discharged due to a medical issue (a bad back). Boehner later worked as a businessman and business executive for the Nucite Sales company, and began his political career as the Union Township, Ohio, board of trustees in 1981, later becoming Board President, in 1984. In 1984, he won election as a member of the Ohio state house of representatives, holding that office from 1985 to1990. In 1990, John Boehner was elected as a Republican to the 102nd Congress. Positions he has held in Congress include: House Republican Conference Chairman, 1995-1999; Chair of the Committee on Education and the Workforce; Majority Leader, and Minority Leader.

John Boehner and his wife Debbie were married in 1973. They live in the Wetherington section of West Chester Township. They have two daughters, Lindsay and Tricia. Boehner is somewhat also known for his golden tan, and his passion for golf.
