General Patton
General George Patton

 

Herschel Grynszpan--17-year old German-born Polish Jew who assassinated the German Third Secretary in the German Embassy in Paris on November 7, 1938. This killing gave the Nazis the excuse to launch Kristallnacht against German Jews. His family had been attacked by the Nazis and he sought revenge. It is believed that Grynszpan (Greenspan in English), died in a Nazi concentration camp during the war.


Commodore Henry Harwood (1888-1950)--British commander of the ships that defeated the Graf Spee at the Battle of the River Plate


Hirohito (1901-1989) --The 124th emperor of Japan, reigning from December 25, 1926, until his death in 1989. He was the Monarch of Japan during World War Two. Hirohito gave the direct order to surrender after the Atomic bombs fell.


Adolf Hitler (1889-1945)-German leader during World War Two.


Captain Hans Langsdorff (1894-1939) --Commander of the German Pocket Battleship, the Admiral Graf Spee


Benito Mussolini (1883-1945) --Dictator of Italy from 1922 to his death in April, 1945.


General George S. Patton (1885-1945) --U.S. Army general and commander of the U.S. Third Army



Hideki Tojo (1884 -1948) was a general in the Imperial Japanese Army, and the Prime Minister of Japan during much of World War II, from October 18, 1941 to July 22, 1944.


Victor Emmanuel III (1869 -1947) King of Italy from 1900 to 1946.


Ernst vom Rath--German diplomat who was killed on November 7, 1938 by a 17-year old German-born Polish Jew in retaliation for Nazi attacks on the youth's family. Vom Rath was a member of the Nazi Party and of the Nazi militia called the SA. His death served as the Nazi excuse for launching the anti-Jewish pogrom known as Kristallnacht.
