Robert Charles Redford, Jr. (b. August 18, 1936)--An American actor whose name was synonomous with the word "sexy" in the 1960s and 1970s, when he was at the height of his acting career. Robert Redford is also the founder of the Sundance Film Festival. Redford is the recipient of two Oscar Awards. His first Oscar came in 1981 for directing the film Ordinary People, while his second Oscare was for Lifetime Achievement in 2002.

Robert Redford will have a major role in the upcoming Captain America: The Winter Soldier film, playing the leader of S.H.I.E.L.D., a character named Alexander Pierce.

Redford's best known film roles came in the popular films Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969), Jeremiah Johnson (1972), The Candidate (1972), The Sting (1973), The Way We Were (1973), The Great Gatsby (1974), Three Days of the Condor (1975), All the President's Men (1976), The Natural (1984), Out of Africa (1985), and Sneakers (1992).
