Operation Moshtarak /Battle of Marja

(Feb. 2010-Present)


In response to increased Taliban control in southern Afghanistan, allied forces planned and actually publicized in advance, a major military offensive in southern Afghanistan's Helmand Province for February of 2010. The offensive began on February 13, 2010, with several thousand U.S., British, Afghan, and other allied troops moving into the area around the city of Marja.
