The American Civil War

Welcome to the new American Civil War section of the History Guy website. This section will continue to grow as we examine the Civil War, its causes, consequences, and the details of the war itself. We will cover the military battles and campaigns, the personalities involved in the war, as well as those people associated with the events leading up to the war, and those involved with the post-war Reconstruction Period. The issue of slavery will be examined, as well as the economic issues that helped divide the nation.

Battles and Campaigns of the Civil War

The Battle of Gettysburg--One of the most important battles of the Civil War.

U.S.-Mexican War--While obviously not a part of the U.S. Civil War, the aftermath of the War with Mexico did inflame relations between the North and the South.
